No 2 - Rivers
of Living Water

‘As the scripture has said , “Out of the believer’s heart shall
flow rivers of living water.” This verse is part of one of the Gospel Readings appointed for
Whitsunday 2011, the 40th Anniversary of Mossley Parish. Jesus uses the verse to describe the
influence of the promised Holy Spirit.
When I think of Mossley, I think of liveliness and enthusiasm – a new
church, traditional but not weighed down by tradition, with the work of the
Holy Spirit very much in evidence: living waters, fresh waters, healing
waters in abundance in the lives and witness of Mossley parishioners. At the
beginning of my ordained ministry, I had the privilege of experiencing that
freshness first hand – and it has stood me in good stead for more then thirty
years of ministry. The very
